From Reaction to Regeneration: Discovering the Three Earths of Leadership
Dear Soulful Leaders,
Every era of human history has been defined by how we lead—by the consciousness that shapes our decisions and the systems that follow. Today, we find ourselves at a pivotal moment in that evolution. The old ways of leading through control, hierarchy, and reaction no longer serve the complexity of our world. We are being invited into a new framework of understanding—one that honors how leadership evolves through three distinct yet interconnected phases: Earth One, Earth Two, and Earth Three.
These Three Earths offer us a lens for understanding not only what is happening around us but also what is emerging through us. They remind us that leadership, like life itself, is evolutionary. It grows from survival, to awareness, to creation. Each phase has a purpose, and together they map our collective journey from fear to love, from reaction to regeneration.
Earth One: Fast-Moving Response Leadership
Earth One energy arises in times of crisis or uncertainty. It is the leadership of first responders, executives under pressure, and systems built for control and efficiency. Its focus is immediate—stabilizing chaos, ensuring safety, providing clarity. Earth One leadership is about doing, holding, and teaching. It meets essential needs with action and care. We could not survive without it, but we cannot thrive if we stay within it.
Earth Two: The Conscious Choice to Evolve
As crisis subsides, a new possibility emerges. Earth Two leadership invites reflection and collaboration. It is the phase of asking rather than telling, of aligning rather than controlling. This is the space of reformers, community builders, and changemakers who understand that no one person holds all the answers. In Earth Two, we begin to listen, connect, and engage with others to co-create new systems that reflect care and shared purpose. It is the bridge between the old and the new.
Earth Three: Regenerative Leadership
Earth Three is where leadership transcends fixing and begins to create anew. Here, being and doing merge into coherence. Earth Three leaders are guided by joy, love, and imagination. They understand that creation flows from presence and that leadership is not about control but about embodiment. In this phase, our presence itself becomes generative—our being inspires and empowers others. Earth Three leaders create from love rather than fear, from wholeness rather than scarcity.
Each of us is navigating all three Earths in different aspects of our lives. In one moment, we may be responding to immediate needs; in another, reflecting and aligning; and in another, envisioning the world we long for. The key is awareness—knowing where we are operating and consciously choosing to move toward balance and love.
The Three Earths are not a hierarchy but a flow. They remind us that leadership is not static. It is a living, breathing practice of evolving with life itself. Earth One gives us stability. Earth Two invites collaboration. Earth Three offers creation. Together, they help us navigate uncertainty while building a future that reflects who we are becoming.
Right now, the world is shifting rapidly. We can feel the friction between Earth One’s need for control, Earth Two’s call for connection, and Earth Three’s vision of creation. Our task as leaders is to integrate these energies—to bring wisdom from the past, compassion to the present, and imagination to the future.
We cannot solve today’s challenges from the consciousness that created them. We must evolve. We must lead from love, not fear; from cooperation, not competition; from imagination, not imitation. The Three Earths remind us that leadership is no longer about managing systems—it is about embodying a way of being that heals, harmonizes, and regenerates.
This week, I invite you to notice where you are leading from. Are you reacting or creating? Are you seeking control or cultivating connection? Can you slow down enough to listen to what the world—and your soul—is asking you to bring forward?
The new world will not be built by a few extraordinary people but by millions of ordinary people choosing to lead extraordinarily. The Three Earths show us the path. Step by step, choice by choice, love by love, we are building the better new.
In leadership,
Kathleen
Reflection Questions:
Which Earth are you leading from most often right now—and where might you be called to evolve next?
How can you bring more balance between response, reflection, and regeneration in your daily leadership?
What would it look like for you to embody Earth Three leadership, creating from love and imagination rather than fear or control?
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” —Rumi
